Learn Digital Photography – 7 Steps To Jump Start Your Creativity

We all have to start somewhere with our photography and one of the big questions I get asked by students is where do we begin. There is just so much to learn and not enough subjects to shoot. That may or may not be true. My answer is street photography. Why? Let’s read on.

Now, I know this sounds strange – most photographers are thinking all the time about how they can get MORE clients to work with – and not really thinking at all about whether or not a certain client “qualifies” to work with. And that is one of the reasons most photographers are not successful.

But with exhibits of your DC event photographers, you are there by “invitation” – or at least that’s what most people believe to be the case. This means the location where you are exhibiting is giving their approval of, and respect for what you do. This is a very powerful psychological marketing tool.

On the side of the news outlet, they have nothing to lose… a press pass doesn’t cost them anything. If the photos are good, the story can be edited or even rewritten if necessary. AND they have coverage of an event they would not otherwise have had!

Be prepared to try new things and experiment with your event photography. Try new things you’ve never done before. Push the boundaries and think outside of the box. If you like old cars or flowers then shoot lots of them. If you shoot the things you love you are guaranteed to have fun.

Digital photography is the most convenient way ever to take photographs. Digital cameras are also very easy to use even if you are not an expert photographer. The newer digital cameras are small and compact so you can easily take them with you wherever you are going. You will be able to take photos — you won’t ever need to lose those photo moments.

Do yourself a favor and if you choose to handle the photography on your own, plan very well ahead of time and do plenty of practice pictures with the person and the camera that you intend to use. That way, in the event the pictures aren’t that great, you will have time to figure out a better option.
